Archives

The Archives Committee collects, preserves, houses and catalogs the documents and items of historical interest related to this church, its members, and its denominational affiliates.  The committee prepares and arranges exhibits for display.

Building

The Building Committee maintains, repairs, and improves the interior of the building as needed.  It also gets bids for outside or inside repair that needs to be done by professionals.

Building Use

The Building Use Committee administers rentals and members’ personal use of the Church building and grounds in accordance with the Building Use Policy:

  • Coordinates schedules for events

  • Obtains signed rental agreements

  • Provides access to building, assists with setup, and assures lockup following the event.

By-Laws

The By-Laws Committee suggests additions and revisions to our church by-laws; reviews the by-laws every five years, making recommendations to the Board of Trustees  The committee invites suggestions for amendments to the by-laws from the Board of Trustees, other committees, and individual church members.

Finance Committee

Annually reviews proposed budget allocation of committees funded or partially funded from the church budget.  Annually reviews operating cost of the church, including compensation of Minister, Director of Religious Education, secretary, custodian, and performance reports of Personnel Relations Committee with respect thereto. Recommends annual budget allocations and projections for expense and income items for approval of the Board of Trustees and congregation.

Reviews all items bearing on financial posture of church on a case by case basis.  Makes recommendations to Board of Trustees and/or congregation.

Grounds

The purpose of this committee is to create a visual representation of UU'ism and ourselves to the community through care and planning for our church grounds.  Reference to original landscape architectural plans allows for a coherent approach to landscape management.

Housekeeping

Our primary goal is to make the kitchen convenient and comfortable for all the numerous people who use it.  We publish generally accepted guidelines of kitchen use, organize the cupboards, and communicate pertinent information.  We meet semi-monthly to clean kitchen equipment and maintain general cleanliness.  In addition, we arrange for cleaning, organizing, and repairing items or areas in the church building that are brought to our attention.

Interior Decoration and Art

The Interior Décor Committee coordinates the selection and placement of interior colors, wall and window coverings, furnishings, artwork and plants.

Membership/Hospitality

The goal of the Membership Committee is to help people, including new and longstanding members, friends and visitors feel comfortable and at home as functioning participants in our Unitarian community.

     The committee arranges for greeters, ushers, and coffee hosts for Sunday services with committee members serving as additional greeters each Sunday.  Coffee hour supplies are purchased by this committee.

     Hospitality is provided for spring and fall new member classes and for new members potlucks; other all-church social events may be coordinated by this committee.

     The committee maintains the guest register in the foyer and makes follow-up contacts with those who sign it.

     Materials for the pamphlet rack in the foyer are purchased and made available to all.

     Committee chairs work with the clerk, treasurer and minister to certify our annual official count of members which is sent to the UUA in Boston.

     This committee oversees the publication of the annual directory and assists in assembling it.

Memorial Committee

The role of this committee is to recommend projects to the board for which memorial gifts might be used.

Music Committee

The Music Committee’s purpose is to assist the Director of music in the planning of special musical events, as well as making suggestions for music and performers for the Sunday services.  Our goal is to ensure that music of a variety of styles and traditions is an integral part of the church life.

Religious Services/Worship Associates

The Religious Services Committee works with the minister in the planning and conducting of Sunday Services.  The Committee usually plans and conducts one Sunday service each month.  In addition, the committee designs and coordinates all the Sunday services from mid-June through early September, and also when the minister is on vacation.  The Committee draws from the wide variety of resources available within our church and the community at large, and occasionally hosts events that are of interest to the community.  Feedback and information regarding program interests and needs of the congregation are welcomed.

Stewardship

Organizes and conducts annual pledge drive for ensuing fiscal or calendar year budget and Kick-Off pledge drive brunch in the fall.  Solicits new members for financial support.
