Guidelines for Coffee Hosts
- You will need to arrive at least 20 minutes before the service. Coffee Hosts need to prepare:
- both regular and decaf coffee,
- juice and
- a pot of hot water for tea.
There will be a supply of regular and decaf coffee , powdered drink mix for juice (Crystal Light or Country Time Lemonade), tea bags and Coffeemate in the Hospitality cupboard (Located above the coffee pots.). You may use these supplies or feel free to bring your own if you prefer real juice and half & half. Cookies or other treats are not required, but is up to you if you wish to provide them. Sugar is in cupboard above coffee pots.
-
It is estimated that two to three pitchers of juice should be prepared as early as possible in order to chill before being served( or chill with ice cubes).
-
Place water in the small white coffee pot labeled for hot water only and plug it into an outlet away from the Bunn pots before the service. This is hot water for tea. Set out a mixture of tea bags in cupboard above counter.
-
Racks of coffee cups and juice glasses are kept in the supply room in the hallway and to the left of the kitchen door. Set out a rack/racks of regular cups, a rack of juice glasses, sugar, cream (or Coffeemate) and spoons..
-
After the coffee hour, please wash any supplies used and leave the kitchen in order. Dish soap for the dishwasher is in the cupboard next to the dishwasher. Place one small scoop of soap on the door and close the door. Dishwasher switch at the bottom of the machine must be turned on 15 minutes before you will be using it. Dishwasher starts automatically when latch is closed. Leave the dishwasher empty and return racks of coffee cups and juice glasses to the supply room.
-
If you cannot serve as coffee host, please call the person who asked you to do this as soon as possible.

INSTRUCTIONS for the Bunn Coffee Brewers
- The Bunn coffee brewers are always plugged in. The switches are for the warming plates. Turn them on to keep coffee warm. Turn off at end of coffee hour.
-
Place a filter paper in the basket; add ground coffee, (approximately ½ cup for each pot). Filters are in the cupboard above the coffee pots. Slide the basket into place. Place an EMPTY decanter on the warming plate BEFORE pouring in the water. (The hot water starts coming out immediately).
-
Pour one white pitcher of water (64 ounces) into the top of the brewer (plastic pitchers are on counter by the brewers). (Use ONLY WATER. Don’t attempt to reheat coffee or other liquids.) Keep water pitchers filled with water so it is easy to make additional coffee quickly.
-
When brewing is completed, discard the filter and coffee grounds. Another cycle may be started immediately ( be sure an empty pot is on the warming plate before pouring in the water). Keep the brewed coffee warm in the insulated carafes.

Guidelines for Greeters
-
