Birthday Sunday

Every year, we celebrate everyone's birthday on Birthday Sunday.   After the service, members, friends, and guests gather in the Social Hall where the Membership Committee has decorated one table for each month.  Everyone is invited to sit at the table representing their birth month, so they can meet others born in the same month and share cake, coffee and punch.  It's a great annual mixer for all ages.

Church Campout

We gather together for one long summer weekend at a campground within one day's travel to enjoy nature, play games, and sit around the campfire.  This is a great family outing.  We offer nature adventures for kids and adults - and swimming and other such activities.  For more information contact our Director of Religious Education .

Circle Suppers

Potluck dinners are held on the 3rd Saturday of each month.  All adults are welcome to attend (we have had occasional dinners that were child friendly, but the intent is for adults to have conversation time, and not all homes are equipped to accommodate children, so most of them are limited to adults). This is a great way for all members, new and long time, to get to know each other.

The groups range in size from 8 to 20, depending on the hosts' available seating.  Please contact Melanie Landa know if you would like to attend, would like to host or would like more information.

Hanging of the Greens

All generations love this tradition of meeting on an evening at the start of the holiday season to decorate the great room/sanctuary.

Interfaith Thanksgiving Service

Join us for the annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service (with our friends at Edwards United Church of Christ and Temple Emanuel). Check the church calendar for the schedule.

Knitting and More

All knitters and crafters are welcome to join with this fellowship group. Click here to see photos of the latest project.

Lesbian Book Club

You do not have to be a lesbian to participate.  The Lesbian Book Club will read and discuss books written by or about lesbians, fiction or nonfiction. If this topic falls outside your normal reading genre(s), and/or is outside your comfort zone, think of it as an opportunity to experience something new.

 The Men’s softball team was organized in 1975 by Ken Hill and Dick Martin. The minister (Rev. Tom Owen-Towle) played shortstop on that original team. In 1995 or 1996, the team took the name “UU Knights” in memory of Mike Knight who played and coached for many years.  We usually have anywhere from 12 to 20 players on the roster. Players must be at least 18 years old, male and affiliated in some way with the church. We usually win about half our games but the main objective is to have fun and to have no one get hurt. Visitors are most welcome to come cheer us on. After the games, we usually end up at Rudy’s (on 16th Street in Moline) to have some refreshments and celebrate. Women Out on Wednesday (WOW)
