Green Sanctuary

This page is sponsored by the UUCQC Green Sanctuary Project.

Congregations and congregants working together to restore Earth and renew Spirit.

The UUCQC is getting organized to become part of the Green Sanctuary Program, sponsored by the UUA. The goal of this program is to create a world in which all people make reverence, gratitude, and care for the living Earth that is central to our lives.

The Green Sanctuary Program involves a process that includes specific projects and activities that lead to recognition as a Green Sanctuary. Each congregation follows a process through candidacy and then accreditation. The UUCQC invites our members and friends to embark on an exploration of what it means to live today within a religious community on an imperiled Earth and to become better stewards of the Earth.

We are working to receive official recognition for completing the Green Sanctuary Program. This recognition will signify that we live out our commitment to the Earth by creating sustainable lifestyles for our members as individuals and as a faith community. By doing so, we announce that we are committed to creating a religious community that has a fundamental, bottom-line, commitment to living in harmony with the Earth.
